2008 was the 10th year anniversary of the Deni Ute Muster and in true country fashion three world records were smashed - the Official World Record Ute Count was destroyed, the Official World Record Blue Singlet Count was shattered and the Deni Ute Muster Count was cracked. For the first time in 10 years the gate to the Ute paddock had to be closed when numbers reached their maximum, which over 20,000 people.

This is a huge increase from numbers last year which saw 18,000 people descend on Deniliquin for the Deni Ute Muster. John Harvie the Deni Ute Muster Festival Director has witnessed the Ute Muster grow every year, and is not amazed at the international acclaim that the Deni now has – with the Deni blue Bonds singlets selling like hot cakes in international stores.

The Deni Ute Muster is one of the largest rural festivals in Australia. All ages and from all states in Australia come to Deni for the festivities. This year country music sensation Casey Chambers drew large crowds to this iconic Aussie event. The Muster began in October 1999, when Deniliquin wrote itself into history claiming the Guinness Book of Records for the largest parade of legally registered utes in the world, back then it was 2839 drivers, this year 7,242 utes took part. This confirms Deniliquin's the title as Ute capital of the world.

Yet Utes were not only thing to be enjoyed at this festival - wood chopping, circle work competitions, stunt bikes, bull riding, live bands, country music legends, food, rides, exhibitions and sheep sheering were all showcased in this long weekend in October. Awards and prizes were given to utes of various categories including Ute of the Year, 4WD Ute, Workmans Ute, Chicks Ute, Town Ute, Home Grown Ute and Ute That Has Travelled the Furthest To Be At The Muster and more.

There is no doubt that this years Deni Ute Muster was record breaking, which means 2009 will have a hard act to follow but if it keeps in true Deni Ute Muster tradition it will be bigger and more magnificent than this years.
